Basic Watsu® Class

Basic Watsu® Class is a 16 hour introduction to watsu® ( water shiatsu ) .There are 6 hours of interactive land instruction and discussion, and10 hours in the warm pool. Most Basic Watsu® classes are taught in a two day intensive, and I personally usually offer it on a Saturday and Sunday. Students enjoy giving and receiving equally. Learning the heart breath connection, you can stay grounded in your stance while you float and stretch someone to the rhythm of your connected breath. You will be led through a simple but complete form. You learn how to safely float someone, do some basic moves, and do a completion. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to do a short session for friends and family and call yourself a student of watsu® and you will be listed as a student on the World Wide Aquatic Bodywork Association Registry.

This class is somewhat more in depth than the Introduction class which is only 6 hours, and gives a more clear idea for you to decide if this form of aquatic bodywork is something in which you wish to pursue further training. As in each stage in a Watsu® program, the form learned has it’s own organic unity, and can be repeated over and over without ever loosing it’s freshness or benefits for both giver and receiver.

You can take this class to deepen your meditation, your relationship to water, and or your connection to others.

Watsu® 1 Class

Watsu® 1Class is a 50 hour ~ 5 day intensive. Learning to safely float someone, breath and balance, cultivating core awareness, alignment for giver and receiver, body mechanics, presence of being, this is a wonderful opportunity to start on the path as a professional giver of watsu®. In the first stage of Watsu® 1, you learn Watsu’s Tai Chi-like Basic Moves and positions and how, staying grounded and connected with the breath, you can let the water do the work. In its continual return to the Water Breath Dance, you find the stillness that is the ground of presence. In the second stage you learn to connect these basic moves and positions with long gracefully flowing transitions into the Transition Flow. You learn to adapt this to people of all sizes, shapes and dispositions. You learn about your own body mechanics – how to support and move each person as effortlessly as possible in the water. On land you will be introduced to both Co-Centering and Tantsu and explore and share what being held means to you and others. Upon completion of this class, you will be able to give a session of 40 minutes to an hour easily, and call yourself a student of Watsu® and be listed on the WorldWide Aquatic Bodywork Association Registry.
